Titan II Missile Museum - Green Valley, Arizona

A view of the only surviving Titan II missile and missile silo, now preserved as a museum in the Sonoran desert of southern Arizona, outside of Tucson. The Titan II was America's primary land-based nuclear ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile), from the 1960's through the 1980's. The missile was developed as part of the United States nuclear deterrent, with the intent that it would only be launched in an all-out nuclear war. At the height of its use, over 50 such missiles were on standby 24/7 ready to launch at a moment's notice.
